Clinical social work is a second career for Ms. Thomas, who has practiced in a variety of settings since graduation with her Master's degree in 1994. Involved in the practice of professional counseling for over fifteen years, Ms. Thomas has found that working in a private practice creates a flexible schedule that allows her to keep a strong focus on the needs of her own family, while enhancing her goal of helping others reach their optimal level of functioning. Ms. Thomas utilizes an eclectic approach in the therapeutic relationship including cognitive, behavioral, educational, and focus on the core issues. The thinking processes have a strong connection to emotional well-being as well as behavioral effectiveness; therefore, Ms. Thomas' approach often includes restructuring distorted or self-defeating thinking. It is Ms. Thomas' belief that every person can make positive and lasting changes in their lives if they are willing to take personal responsibility for their growth and are willing to go through the process of healing and recovery.
